The National Highway 154A connecting Chamba and Bharmaur, which had been blocked for nearly 27 hours due to a massive rockfall at Lahal Dhank, was finally reopened on Wednesday afternoon, bringing relief to local residents and commuters.
According to Junior Engineer Gajan Rana of the National Highway Authority, a huge boulder had crashed onto the road around 12 noon on Tuesday, halting all vehicular movement. After continuous efforts, the road was cleared and restored for traffic by 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
During the closure, residents of the tribal region faced significant hardships, with bus passengers forced to change vehicles mid-route to reach their destinations. The reopening of the highway has provided much-needed respite to the community, who expressed relief at the restoration of connectivity.
