The Winter Carnival in the Queen of Hills, Shimla, commenced today and is set to run until December 31st, featuring a multitude of events. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the carnival, drawing a significant number of tourists from across the country. The Chief Minister expressed delight at the enthusiastic response from tourists, emphasizing the positive impact of the state’s efforts in evacuating stranded tourists during emergencies.
Around 16,000 vehicles carrying visitors have reached Shimla, indicating a renewed trust in Himachal Pradesh as a preferred tourist destination. CM Sukhu encouraged tourists nationwide to visit the hills, extending a special invitation for New Year celebrations, ensuring that all eateries and establishments will remain open 24/7. He assured that no shopkeeper would face any inconvenience during this period.
In light of potential challenges related to intoxication, the Chief Minister directed the police to handle tourists responsibly, urging them not to inconvenience those who have come to enjoy the serene landscapes. Sukhu emphasized that visitors should adhere to rules and regulations while experiencing the beauty of Himachal.
The Winter Carnival promises a diverse range of programs, starting with a dance performance by local groups and a presentation by the “Mahanati” women’s self-help group, which has become a major attraction for tourists. Various cultural events are planned at different venues, including Ridge Maidan, Gaiety Theater, Scandal Point, Rotary Town Hall, and near the Police Control Room. Additionally, the Gaiety Theater will host a daily evening Sufi music session.
The Winter Carnival aims to captivate tourists and locals alike, showcasing the cultural richness and natural beauty of Shimla, making it a memorable and festive experience for everyone involved.
