Pangi MLA Dr. Janak Raj paid a courtesy visit to NHPC Chairman and Managing Director Shri Bhupendra Gupta in New Delhi on Friday.
During the meeting, Dr. Raj submitted a memorandum seeking employment opportunities for those affected by NHPC’s Duggar Hydropower Project in Pangi and Phase II & III projects in Bharmaur. He also requested the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) in the region with NHPC’s support to ensure a better future for local communities.
During the meeting, Dr. Raj submitted a memorandum highlighting several key demands:
Community Development: Dr. Raj emphasized the need for NHPC to contribute to long-term socio-economic growth in the tribal belt, including skill development and welfare initiatives.
Employment Opportunities: He urged NHPC to provide jobs to families affected by the Duggar Hydropower Project in Pangi and the Phase II & III projects in Bharmaur.
Educational Infrastructure: He requested NHPC’s support in establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) in the region to ensure quality education and a better future for local youth.
NHPC CMD Bhupendra Gupta, who recently assumed charge of the corporation, welcomed the proposals and assured full cooperation. He expressed agreement with the demands and promised to explore ways NHPC could support both employment generation and educational initiatives in the area.
Dr. Raj expressed satisfaction that the NHPC chief responded positively to the demands and assured full cooperation.
