BJP Social Media Co-Convenor Shrey Awasthi launched a fierce attack on the Himachal Pradesh Government, accusing it of ignoring its own youth and cultural talent while shamelessly favouring outsiders in major state events like the Kangra Carnival. He said that at a time when the people of the state are struggling with unemployment and economic distress, the government’s neglect of Himachali artists is both insensitive and unacceptable.

Awasthi reminded the government that during the devastating Mandi disaster and other crises, it was Himachali artists who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, offering their support, presence and emotional strength — while many so-called “big” non-Himachali singers were nowhere to be seen. “Those who stood with Himachal in tough times deserve respect, recognition and opportunity — not outsiders who remember Himachal only during festivals and cheques,” he said.

Launching a sharp and direct attack, Awasthi said the current government has already failed miserably in fulfilling its tall promise of providing one lakh government jobs. “When you couldn’t deliver 1,00,000 government jobs, at least don’t snatch the remaining opportunities from our youth. If you cannot give jobs, then at least don’t deny platforms. Promote Himachali artists, give them space, give them opportunity — so that at least some source of livelihood is ensured for the youth,” he said.

He further asserted that the money spent on state events belongs to the people of Himachal and must benefit Himachali talent first, not outsiders. “The government must stop exporting opportunities. Himachal’s money must empower Himachal’s youth. Local talent deserves first right over these platforms,” he added.

Awasthi warned that cultural neglect is not just an artistic insult, but a blow to youth morale and the state’s identity. He demanded that the government immediately ensure maximum representation of Himachali singers, performers and artists in major state events and stop treating local talent as secondary.
