Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has promoted 235 TGTs and promotee lecturers to the post of headmaster, with the Directorate of School Education issuing a formal notification on Wednesday (December 10, 2025). The newly promoted officials have been allotted postings in various schools across the state.
According to the Directorate, the promotions were made on the recommendation of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). Those elevated include TGTs and promotee lecturers who were promoted before April 26, 2010, without any option and had opted for promotion to the Headmaster cadre.
Newly promoted headmasters directed to join immediately
The Directorate has instructed all newly appointed headmasters to report for duty at their new place of posting without delay. As per the Finance Department’s notification dated May 24, 2023, joining formalities must be completed within one day if the new posting is 30 km or less and within five days if the distance is more than 30 km from their current station.
Officials have warned that failure to join within the prescribed period will result in the automatic withdrawal of the promotion order for one year or until the next DPC, whichever occurs later. No extension for joining will be granted under any circumstances, and no separate order regarding the withdrawal will be issued.
School heads have also been directed to immediately relieve the newly promoted Headmasters so they can take charge at their assigned schools without administrative delays. The Directorate has also released the full list of promoted teachers for public reference.
