Dharamshala hosts Mahawalkathon against chitta menace; students dance to police band tunes, Himachal CM also participates

A massive ‘Mahawalkathon’ was organised in Dharamshala on Monday to raise awareness against the rising chitta menace, drawing an enthusiastic response from students and local residents.


Participants, including schoolchildren, college students, women’s groups, youth clubs, NGOs, traders and local citizens, marched through the town, pledging to stay away from drugs and support the anti-narcotics campaign.


In a vibrant show of energy, students danced to the tunes of the Himachal Police Orchestra Harmony of the Pines, adding colour and rhythm to the awareness drive. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also joined the walk, who is in Dharamshala for the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, lauded the community’s collective resolve to fight drug abuse.
