SHIMLA: Though Prabodh Saxena retired as the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh on September 30, 2025, following a six-month extension, the state government’s official website still shows him holding the top bureaucratic post.

This apparent oversight could be due to the fact that the government has yet to appoint his successor. On the state portal https://himachal.nic.in, a dedicated section for the Chief Secretary continues to display Prabodh Saxena’s profile and photograph.

The website identifies Saxena as a 1990-batch IAS officer, highlighting his service in several senior roles within the state and central governments, as well as international institutions. It notes that he assumed charge as Chief Secretary on December 31, 2022.

Saxena’s academic credentials are also prominently featured: a bachelor’s degree in law from Delhi University and a master’s degree in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. The site further mentions his numerous publications in national and international journals and his frequent speaking engagements at prestigious institutions around the world. He is said to have travelled extensively, visiting more than 75 countries across all continents.

Alongside the Chief Secretary’s profile, the website also provides links to key offices, including the Governor, Chief Minister, HP Vidhan Sabha, Council of Ministers and Administrative Secretaries.
