Dharamshala — In a heartwarming initiative, Rotary Club Shahpur has stepped forward to build a home for Subhash Chand, a resident of Durgela, whose house collapsed during the recent monsoon rains.

Within just one week of learning about the incident, club members laid the foundation stone for a new one-room dwelling with a kitchen and bathroom, aiming to complete and hand over the house within a month.

The club was informed of Subhash’s plight on September 16 and discovered that he was mentally unwell and spending nights under the veranda of a nearby shop. He lacked basic identification documents such as Aadhaar, ration card, and voter ID, and had no official record in the local panchayat.

Rotary Club Shahpur President Rtn. Satyendra Gautam shared that a committee was immediately formed under the leadership of Rtn. Gandharv Pathania and Karnail Chauhan. Alongside local panchayat head Bharti Singh, the team inspected the site and resolved to construct a house for Subhash with support from club members, the panchayat, and generous donors.

Gautam also stated that efforts are underway to help Subhash obtain essential documents and begin mental health treatment, enabling him to lead a dignified life.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by President Satyendra Gautam, Panchayat Pradhan Bharti Singh, Rotarians Gandharv Singh, Karnail Singh, Tilak Raina, Naresh Lagwal, Mukesh Sharma, Satish Sharma, and local residents.
