: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu left for Delhi on Wednesday (August 27, 2025), taking a sudden departure in the midst of the ongoing monsoon session of the state Assembly.
Officials confirmed that the CM will be away until Sunday and will not be present in the House for the next few days.

From Delhi, Sukhu is scheduled to travel to Bihar, where he will participate in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide ‘Vote Chori’ campaign.

Rahul Gandhi has been spearheading the movement and Sukhu’s presence in Bihar is expected to add weight to the campaign.

With Sukhu’s absence, the Assembly proceedings over the next two to three days will continue without his participation. This also means the Chief Minister will remain unavailable to the public in Himachal during this period.

According to sources, Sukhu may also hold discussions with Rahul Gandhi on the long-pending issue of Congress organisation restructuring in Himachal Pradesh. Talks about replacing the state Congress president have been ongoing for months but remain unresolved due to factional differences within the party.

Recently, Sukhu, along with senior cabinet ministers and state party chief Pratibha Singh, had met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi to deliberate on organisational matters. Political observers suggest that Sukhu’s Bihar visit may pave the way for a decisive announcement regarding the future leadership of the Himachal Congress unit.
