TNR Desk

Dharamshala: A devastating incident has shaken the Lahul-Spiti community, as the only daughter of a struggling family fell victim to a heinous crime at the age of 20.

The girl was found murdered in her rented room, prompting her family to embark on a distressing 750-kilometer journey from the Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh to Dharamshala upon receiving the distressing news.

The motive behind the brutal murder is believed to be the illicit desires of the accused. Two youths have been apprehended by the police in connection with the crime, and they reportedly confessed to their involvement on Wednesday.

The accused, shockingly, belong to the same region as the victim, amplifying the tragedy for the tightly-knit community.

Ankur Kumar, the grief-stricken father of the deceased, a farmer by profession, expressed profound sorrow, declaring, “I will not send my other children here. She was our only daughter; now our only child is a son, much younger than her.”

According to relatives, the victim had come to Dharamshala in March for her studies.

Raju Kumar, a relative of the deceased, lamented, “The saddest part of this incident is that there were other rooms adjacent to the crime spot, but none of them came out to rescue the girl.”

RP Jaswal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident and assured that every effort would be made to bring the culprits to justice.

During the investigation, the police allegedly discovered cans of beer and packets of cigarettes in the room. The accused were taken to the crime scene for further probing.

The room, reportedly not locked from the inside, harbored the lifeless body of the girl, discovered by a passerby. The police were promptly informed by the witness, and the neighbors’ information allegedly played a crucial role in identifying and arresting the accused boys.

This alarming incident reflects the prevalence of negative thinking among the young population, demanding vigilant monitoring and intervention.
