Chamba: The International Minjar Fair, one of Himachal Pradesh’s most iconic cultural celebrations, commenced in Chamba with grand religious rituals and vibrant traditional fanfare. The festivities began with the offering of Minjar (sacred silk tassels) to Lord Lakshminarayan and Raghubir Maharaj, a symbolic gesture that marks the official start of the week-long fair.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla graced the occasion as the chief guest, adding prestige and grace to the event. He was joined by Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayar.
The traditional Minjar Shobha Yatra (procession) began from the Municipal Committee premises, passing through the historic Lakshminarayan Temple, Raghubir Temple and concluding at Shri Harirai Temple. At each stop, the Governor and dignitaries performed sacred rituals by offering Minjar to the deities’ feet, thereby fulfilling the age-old ceremonial custom.
