Shimla — On the occasion of Himachal Pradesh University’s 56th Foundation Day, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is expected to announce the reinstatement of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) under UGC Acts 2010 and 2018. The HPU Teachers’ Welfare Association (HPUTWA) revealed this development through an official press release.

The university is organizing a grand celebration on campus, with the CM gracing the morning session and the Governor of Himachal Pradesh attending as chief guest for the evening event. The association underscored the significance of this moment, as HPU completes 55 years of academic legacy and enters its 56th year. Alumni from this institution are currently serving in various fields across state and country.

HPUTWA President Dr. Nitin Vyas and General Secretary Dr. Ankush Bhardwaj, joined by other office bearers, voiced their concern over the state government’s suspension of CAS-related promotions since 2022. They emphasized that thousands of teachers from universities and colleges remain deprived of rightful career progression, leading to financial setbacks, academic frustration, and lowered university grading.

Highlighting disparity, HPUTWA expressed surprise over promotional benefits being extended to other state employees and board officials, while educators continue to face neglect. Dr. Vyas warned that this discrimination could escalate into a statewide agitation if not addressed.

The association urged the Chief Minister to restore CAS during the university’s Foundation Day celebrations, marking a positive turning point for educators in Himachal Pradesh.
