A man from Chanokhadi village, near the Kariya Panchayat adjoining the Chamba headquarters, reportedly jumped off the Bhadiya Bridge into the Ravi River early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:00 AM and was quickly reported by nearby villagers, prompting the police and Home Guard rescue teams to initiate a search operation.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and launched an extensive two-hour search in the area surrounding the river. However, due to heavy rainfall, the water remains muddy and swift, hampering visibility and progress. The rescue team has now shifted their focus to likely points along the riverbank where the body could be trapped.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the reason behind the individual’s drastic action. According to officials from the Home Guard, they received the information early in the morning and responded promptly. Despite focused efforts near the bridge, the person remains untraced. Authorities affirmed that the search will continue across all accessible sections along the Ravi River.
