Dalhousie: Dalhousie and Bakloh Cantonment Boards jointly celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and community spirit. This year’s global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, echoed strongly throughout the events, emphasising the interconnection between environmental well-being and holistic human health.

The day’s proceedings began at 6.30 am with the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam. Following the address, participants engaged in a collective practice of the common yoga protocol (CYP) under the guidance of trained yoga instructors.

In Dalhousie, the celebration witnessed active participation from a wide range of attendees, including Mabel Christian, Chief Executive Officer of the Dalhousie Cantonment Board, nominated member Vinod Mahajan, teachers and students of PM Shri Cantonment Middle School-Dalhousie, cantonment staff and local residents. The yoga session was professionally conducted, with visual aids and posters explaining various yoga asanas and their benefits displayed prominently around the venue.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, a signature campaign was also held under the theme “One Earth, One Health”, where participants pledged their commitment to personal health and environmental conservation.

Simultaneously, the Bakloh Cantonment Board hosted its own yoga celebration with similar fervour. From a beautifully decorated stage, speakers highlighted the physical, mental and ecological benefits of yoga. A large number of local dignitaries, school children, Army personnel and cantonment staff took part in the event.

The Chief Executive Officers of both cantonments extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers and medical teams for making the event successful. They reiterated that yoga is not merely a physical practice, but a holistic way of life that fosters community well-being and unity.

The event concluded with a collective resolution to incorporate yoga into daily life, contributing towards a healthier individual, a more connected society and a greener planet.
