Mandi (Munish Sood)
Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), located at Ner Chowk in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, is set to host its first convocation ceremony this year, marking a significant milestone since its establishment.
In a move towards digital integration, the university will provide graduates their degrees both in physical form and through DigiLocker, the Government of India’s digital document storage platform.
AMRU Vice-Chancellor Dr Surendra Kashyap announced that the results for BSc and MMC Nursing programmes have already been declared. Examinations for MD, MS, MDS and other courses are currently underway, with results expected in March or April.
Ceremony after results of post-graduate courses
Following the announcement of these results, the university will organise its inaugural convocation to confer degrees to the graduating batch.
Emphasising the importance of digital accessibility, Dr Kashyap stated that the university has decided to provide degrees through DigiLocker, in addition to traditional hard copies.
This initiative aims to ensure that graduates have secure and convenient access to their academic credentials, aligning with the broader objectives of the Digital India programme.
DigiLocker, launched under the Digital India initiative by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), is designed to provide citizens with a secure cloud-based platform for storing, sharing and verifying documents and certificates.
DigiLocker documents considered equivalent to physical form
Documents issued in the DigiLocker system are considered equivalent to original physical documents as per Rule 9A of the Information Technology (Preservation and Retention of Information by Intermediaries Providing Digital Locker Facilities) Rules, 2016.
By integrating with DigiLocker, AMRU joins a growing number of educational institutions leveraging digital platforms to enhance administrative efficiency and provide students with easily accessible, authentic digital documents.
