Indora Govt Girls Senior Secondary School students take out anti-drug rally under ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat’ campaign

Indore: To combat drug abuse, the students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Indora in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh organised a rally under the banner of the ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

The event, part of the ongoing ‘Samvad’ programme, was aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and to inspire community action against the growing menace, said Principal Mohan Sharma.

The rally was organised with the support of Inspector Arun Kapoor from the Excise and Taxation Department and Inspector Prem Sharma from the Indora police department. The event featured a series of engaging activities, including poster-making, slogan writing and a speech competition, coordinated by the school’s Lakshmi, Durga and Saraswati houses.

Inspector Prem Sharma encouraged the students to act as “change agents” in their communities, urging them to identify those struggling with addiction and resist peer pressure and temptations. He emphasised the importance of standing firm in the fight against drugs and acting as a positive influence on others.

During the event, students Saanvi Sharma of Durga House (9th grade), Palak of Lakshmi House (11th grade) and Suruchi of Saraswati House (10th grade) shared their insights on the impact of drug abuse and the need for awareness and vigilance.

The highlight of the event was a rally through Indora market, where students held up banners and chanted slogans to spread the message of a drug-free society. Their voices echoed the resolve to rid the community of substance abuse and inspire collective action against it.

In addition to the inspectors, the event saw the participation of school staff, including spokesperson Meena Tara and Kuldeep Kumar, Diwansi Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Nirmal Singh, Rajni Sharma, Manju Bala, Anshadha Sharma, Manish, Vasudev and Ashwani remained present.
