Scrap dealer staged shooting on himself, finds probe by Baddi SP
Exposed as mastermind behind October 27 shooting

In a stunning revelation, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Baddi in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, Ilma Afroz, has uncovered the truth behind the October 27 shooting incident involving scrap dealer Ramkishan Chaudhary.
The alleged attack, which initially appeared to be an attempt on Chaudhary’s life, has turned out to be a staged event orchestrated by the scrap dealer himself.
Afroz, addressing the media, disclosed that Ramkishan hired a shooter to open fire on his own bulletproof Fortuner vehicle, aiming to fabricate a scenario where he appeared as the victim.
The motive, Afroz explained, was to gain personal and professional advantage by playing the role of a targeted individual.
Known for her sharp investigative skills, Afroz analysed the details of the shooting and found inconsistencies.
The direction of the bullets and the car’s movement during the incident led her to suspect foul play. With her guidance, the police pursued the case, ultimately arresting the shooter, Iqbal, who admitted to his involvement and revealed that he had been paid by Ramkishan to create the fake attack.
Ramkishan once had police protection
Initially, Ramkishan had claimed that unknown assailants attacked his vehicle while he was on his way from Kheda to Rajpura.
He alleged that the attack was an attempt to take advantage of the recent removal of his police protection.
However, SP Afroz’s team identified a deliberate plan behind the incident, which not only included hiring a shooter but also timing the attack to gain sympathy and a sense of urgency from authorities.
Upon investigation, the police apprehended Iqbal from neighbouring Gurumajra village.
He confessed to firing five rounds at Ramkishan’s bulletproof vehicle, aiming at the left side of the car, ensuring that the shots would make an impact without causing harm.
Afroz’s team then apprehended Ramkishan, seeking a police remand to further investigate his intentions and motives behind the staged assault.
Conspiracy involved three persons
The police stated that Ramkishan had hired a youth from BBN for this task. This youth, in turn, requested another youth to provide a shooter, who then fired the shots at a secluded spot on Kheda Rajpura road while wearing a mask.
The timing and location of the shooting were decided collectively by the team. Currently, one youth has been arrested, while two others remain at large.
Case filed against Ramkishan
During a press conference, the SP said that a case was being registered against scrap dealer Ramkishan and others for misleading the police, creating an atmosphere of terror in the region and possessing illegal firearms.
The SP noted that one arrest had been made so far, but additional arrests may occur as part of the ongoing investigation.
Additionally, there was speculation regarding Iqbal, who had a previous case of disturbing the peace registered against him in Nalagarh. Questions arose as to why the police had not monitored him.
It was also revealed that the police had removed Iqbal from that case under pressure and had classified it as a dispute over vegetable markets.
The withdrawal from the previous case apparently emboldened him to orchestrate this second incident.
While the police have pat themselves on the back for resolving the case, they could not clarify who actually fired the shots.
Iqbal has been arrested, but the press conference did not reveal who fired the gun. The police mentioned that a local firearm was recovered, but the question of who used it remains unanswered.
The police have suggested waiting a few days, stating that the case will become clear like water.
