IIT Mandi Achieves 8th Rank in Innovation Category in NIRF 2024

Mandi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 8th position in the Innovation category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The rankings, conducted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, were announced today, August 12, 2024, by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Hon’ble Education Minister, in New Delhi.

This achievement marks a proud moment for IIT Mandi, which has also improved its standings in other categories. The Institute now ranks 31st in the Engineering category and 72nd in the Overall category, reflecting its steady progress and commitment to excellence.

Speaking at the event, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the importance of the NIRF rankings in fostering transparency and continuous improvement in the higher education sector. “The Ministry of Education has consistently integrated feedback from higher educational institutions to make the ranking process more progressive and transparent. I encourage all institutions, both public and private, to participate in NIRF as it helps benchmark their performance and drive excellence,” he stated.

Dr. Kumar Sambhav Pandey, Registrar of IIT Mandi, expressed his excitement about the Institute’s achievement. “We are thrilled to see IIT Mandi secure the 8th position in the Innovation category of NIRF 2024. This recognition is a testament to our dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among our students and faculty. We remain committed to pushing boundaries and contributing meaningfully to the nation’s technological advancements and innovation ecosystem.”

The NIRF 2024 rankings include various categories such as overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, and architecture. This year, three new categories were introduced: open universities, skill universities, and state-funded government universities.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an indigenous ranking system for higher educational institutions in India, providing a methodology to assess and rank institutions across the country.
