A meeting of the Himachal Pradesh cabinet will be held on Thursday (July 25, 2024) at the Secretariat in Shimla under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The meeting is expected to address several major issues impacting the state. One of the key decisions anticipated is the imposition of a ban on the transfer of teachers. The proposal includes a plan to transfer teachers only at the beginning of the academic session in March.

The measure aims to ensure stability in schools throughout the year. Additionally, it is expected that principals and headmasters will be required to teach in the event of vacancies in schools, ensuring that educational activities are not disrupted.

The cabinet will also review the Himachal Road Transport Corporation’s (HRTC) loss report, which details the current financial status of the state-run transport service. The meeting is expected to discuss measures to address these losses and improve the corporation’s performance. Furthermore, the state’s homestay policy will be brought to the table, potentially introducing new regulations and incentives to boost tourism.

A significant report from the Cabinet sub-committee on increasing income and reducing expenses will be presented, outlining strategies for fiscal improvement. Additionally, a decision is anticipated on the creation of new posts within the Dehra District Police to enhance law enforcement capabilities in the region.

Agricultural concerns are also on the agenda, with the Cabinet set to deliberate on increasing the minimum support price for key crops such as apples and mangoes. This move aims to provide better financial support to the state’s farmers and boost agricultural productivity.

Urban development will also see attention, with the Cabinet expected to approve new town planning rules, paving the way for more organized and sustainable urban growth. The dates for the monsoon session of the assembly will also be discussed, ensuring legislative activities are aligned with the state’s seasonal schedule.
