Himachal weather: Shimla lashed by rain; 5-day alert for heavy rain in other parts

Amidst a weather alert issued by the Meteorological Department, intermittent rains have been continuing across parts of Himachal Pradesh. The state capital Shimla experienced light rain starting at around 10.45 amFriday. The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) area has seen heavy rainfall since morning. Similarly, several areas in Kangra district have also reported significant rainfall.
The Meteorological Centre at Shimla has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain across various parts of the state over the next five days. According to the department, heavy rainfall is forecasted from July 12 to 14 and July 17 to 18. Due to the heavy downpour, vehicular movement on 10 roads in the state has been halted as of 10 am on Friday. Additionally, 49 power transformers and one water supply scheme have been disrupted.
Rainfall recorded last night includes Dharamshala with 12.6 mm, Palampur with 6.2 mm, 3.5 mm, Dalhousie with 3 mm, Kangra with 2.3 mm, Chamba with 2 mm and Sarahan with 2 mm. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts. However, there is no alert for Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
Temperature recordings from various locations are as follows: Shimla at 17.6°C, Sundernagar at 22.5°C, Bhuntar at 22°C, Kalpa at 20.9°C, Una at 25.4°C, Nahan at 10.4°C, Palampur at 19.5°C, Solan at 20.7°C, Manali at 23.2°C, Mandi at 24.3°C, Bilaspur at 24.8°C, Dalhousie at 15.4°C, Jubberhatti at 21.2°C, Kufri at 15.3°C, Kukumseri at 10.1°C, Narkanda at 17.2°C, Dhaulakuan at 26.3°C, Samdo at 20.3°C, Paonta Sahib at 25.0°C, Dehra Gopipur at 24.0°C, Mashobra at 16.6°C, Sainj at 19.6°C and Bajaura at 22.6°C.
