In a significant development, the Centre informed the Supreme Court on Thursday (June 13, 2024) that the decision to award grace marks to 1,563 candidates of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been revoked.

The decision comes amid a wave of controversy surrounding the conduct and fairness of the NEET-UG 2024 examination, with allegations of malpractices and irregularities clouding its integrity.

According to the latest update, the 1,563 students who were initially granted grace marks will now have the opportunity to opt for a re-test. This re-test is scheduled to take place on June 23, providing these candidates with a chance to showcase their abilities under fair and transparent conditions.

Following the re-test, the results will be swiftly evaluated and declared by June 30, 2024. Subsequently, the counselling process for admission into various medical and dental courses, including MBBS and BDS, will commence on July 6, as confirmed by the Centre in its communication to the apex court.

The Supreme Court, on its part, has affirmed its commitment to address all pertinent pleas related to the NEET-UG 2024 examination. This includes petitions advocating for the annulment of the examination due to alleged malpractices. These matters are slated to be deliberated upon on July 8, 2024, ensuring a thorough examination of all relevant concerns and grievances.
