Himachal CM Sukhu, Deputy CM Agnihotri, Pratibha all present at event
MANDI: Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday (May 9, 2024) filed his nomination from Mandi, a seat that has become the most spoken about in the country.
Before filing the nomination, the Congress put up a show of strength at Seri Manch in Mandi. During Vikramaditya’s nomination process, top Congress leaders, including Congress state in-charge Rajeev Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Congress state president Pratibha Singh, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and former minister Kaul Singh Thakur, were present.
Shukla exuded confidence of Vikramaditya’s victory against BJP candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut, claiming the victory margin would be at least two lakh votes.
Chief Minister Sukhu said the people of the state had seen the “real face of the BJP”, which wants to topple the Congress government. “The Himachal people will give a befitting reply to the BJP. The people remember how the Congress government helped them during the 2023 rain disaster. In its 15-month tenure, our government has worked on issues related to the general public,” he said.
Vikramaditya said the “BJP’s film will fail at the box office on June 4”. “Kangana does not understand Himachal’s issues and we will contest the elections only on issues,” he said.
The Congress is preparing to demonstrate its strength through election rallies. Kangra candidate Anand Sharma too will file his nomination on Thursday and an election rally will be held at Zorawar Stadium in Dharamshala.
