Slum kids to attend TNR Shining Star Awards 2024

DHARAMSHALA: Children living in slums who have been acquiring education through a charitable trust run by a monk, Jamyang at Tong len, will also be part of the TNR Shining Star Awards 2024, the second edition of which will kick off from Dharamshala on Tuesday (May 21, 2024).

About 400 meritorious Class X and XII students of Kangra district who have secured 85 per cent and above marks in the board examination will be awarded in the function, being organised at the auditorium of the government college at Dharamshala.

The eligible students have to report at the college at 9 am. They may be accompanied by their parents and teachers. After Kangra, The Newz Radar will take the award show to other districts of the state.

The Newz Radar, the only English digital network of Himachal Pradesh, had organised the first edition of the Shining Star Awards across several district of the state in 2023, earning much applause from various quarters.

“This is the second edition of the Shining Star Awards. We organised such events last year also. The motive is to connect with young brains and boost their morale so that they can play a constructive role to build the society,” said Abhinav Sharma, Human Resource head at The Newz Radar.

Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa will be the chief guest at the TNR Shining Star Awards 2024 in Dharamshala on Tuesday. In his pre-award ceremony message, IAS officer Hemraj Bairwa congratulated the meritorious students of the region who are going to be a part of the Shining Star Awards 2024. He said it is the time when the hard work of the students and their parents will be honoured. “I congratulate all those meritorious students who are going to receive these awards,” said Bairwa.

The meritorious students will also have the unique opportunity of learning from IAS officer Saurabh Jassal at the Shining Star Awards 2024. Jassal, currently serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, is an inspiration to many. Jassal, who hails from Himachal, cleared the IAS in his third attempt.
