Resolution passed to organise grand ceremony to mark 25 years of HPCA

The 20th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) was held on Saturday (December 20, 2025) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.


The meeting was chaired by HPCA vice-president Amitabh Sharma and witnessed detailed deliberations on cricket development and financial planning for the coming years.


During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on expanding the reach of cricket across Himachal Pradesh and strengthening the state team’s performance at the national level. Members emphasised the need for structured development programs to ensure sustained growth of cricket in the state.


The meeting unanimously announced the new office-bearers for the next three-year term. Vijay Kumar was elected as vice-president, Manuj secretary, treasurer and Vishal Sharma joint secretary.


Shivendra Singh, Dr RS Rana and Shailendra Singh were named as apex council members, the HPCA said in a statement.


A key resolution passed during the AGM was to organise a grand ceremony to commemorate 25 glorious years of the HPCA, acknowledging the transformative leadership of former BCCI president Anurag Thakur.
The members unanimously agreed that under his guidance, Himachal Pradesh cricket achieved national and international recognition.


The AGM also expressed gratitude to the organising committee for the successful hosting of the India vs South Africa T20 international match at the Dharamshala stadium and thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for allocating marquee fixtures to the venue.


Special congratulations were extended to the HPCA women’s team and support staff following the selection of two players from Himachal Pradesh in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), marking a significant milestone for women’s cricket in the state.


Prominent members present at the meeting included outgoing secretary Avnish Parmar, former secretary Sumeet Sharma, director Surinder Thakur, Dhanvedar, Prem Thakur, Arvind, Sanjay Sharma, and members Kripal Parmar, Yudhishthir, Surinder Sharma, Aseem Aggarwal, Attar Negi, Tej Chopra, Paramjeet Singh, Jagdeep Sharma, Madan Puri, Ajay Rana, Vishal Jagota, Anup Vij, Amit and Mohit Sood, among others.


The HPCA members paid rich tributes to Anurag Thakur for his exemplary contribution over the last 25 years. The House stood in unison to applaud his role in promoting cricket in Himachal Pradesh and elevating it to international prominence.


A resolution was passed acknowledging that Himachal Pradesh’s global recognition in cricket is largely credited to his leadership.


Avnish Parmar was felicitated with a traditional shawl, cap and a bouquet in appreciation of his dedicated service and contributions during his tenure.
