Eight Himachal girls selected for India camp ahead of Asian U-18 Women’s Handball Championship in China

Shimla: Eight girls from Himachal Pradesh have secured spots in the 28-member national camp for the 11th Asian Under-18 Women’s Handball Championship to be held in China.
The final Indian team of 18 players will be selected from this group after the completion of the camp, which is underway in Gandhinagar in Gujarat and will continue till July 13.


The selected players from Himachal include goalkeepers Neha Chauhan and Kajal; left back Shivani Devi; left wing Riddhima; right back Muskan; centre back Garima; pivot Kaniska; and right wing Shiksha. All eight have been trained at the Morasinghi Handball Nursery, a key hub for nurturing handball talent in the state.


Handball coach Snehlata, under whose guidance the players have trained, expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “It is a matter of great honour that eight players from Himachal have been selected for the national camp. We are hopeful that some of them will make it to the final squad and bring laurels to the country with their performance in China.”


The Indian contingent, including the selected players and the coaching staff, will depart for China on July 14. The coaching team will comprise head coach Sachin and assistant coaches Vinoy, Naveen Poonia and Manisha Rathore.
