The Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday marked the completion of its two-year tenure in Himachal Pradesh with a grand celebration at Luhnu Ground in Bilaspur.
Themed “Vyavastha Parivartan se Aatmanirbhar Himachal” (systemic change to self-reliant Himachal), the event was attended by top leaders of the party. Rajeev Shukla, All India Congress Committee general secretary and the party’s central in charge for Himachal affairs, was expected to join as the chief guest.
Launch of six new schemes
As part of the celebrations, CM Sukhu launched six new government schemes, aiming to further the state’s development and welfare initiatives. The schemes are expected to focus on areas such as healthcare, education and employment.
Additionally, the Chief Minister flagged off five Ayush mobile vans, designed to improve access to healthcare services, particularly in remote areas of the state.
Beneficiary support and honours
The event included the distribution of financial benefits under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Ashray Yojana. Beneficiaries received cheques from the government in recognition of their entitlements under these schemes.
Furthermore, the ceremony honoured freedom fighters, acknowledging their contributions to the nation’s independence.
First-anniversary function was celebrated in Kangra
Last year, the Congress government celebrated its first anniversary in Kangra district. This year’s choice of Bilaspur reflects the administration’s efforts to engage with diverse regions of the state. The Chief Minister emphasised that the government remains committed to ensuring inclusive development and addressing the needs of all citizens.
The event drew significant public participation, symbolizing widespread support for the government’s initiatives over the past two years. CM Sukhu reiterated his vision for a progressive and self-reliant Himachal Pradesh, highlighting the steps taken to bring systemic change and uplift the state.
