Popular Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda has passed away at the age of 35, days after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident in Himachal Pradesh. He d*ied at 10.55 am on Wednesday (October 8, 2025) at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he was admitted since September 27.
The hospital’s Director, Abhijit Singh, confirmed the singer’s death, stating that Jawanda succumbed to multiple organ failure despite aggressive medical intervention and round-the-clock monitoring by critical care and neurosurgery teams.
Accident in Himachal left singer critically injured
The accident occurred on September 27 in the Baddi area of Solan district while Rajvir Jawanda was riding a motorcycle to Shimla, accompanied by five friends. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a serious crash that caused severe spinal injuries and traumatic brain damage.
Rajvir Jawanda suffered a cardiac arrest at a local hospital in Solan shortly after the crash. He was stabilised and then shifted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, in an extremely critical condition. He remained on life support for several days before his condition deteriorated further.
Rising star silenced too soon
Hailing from Pona village in Jagraon in Ludhiana, Rajvir Jawanda had carved a distinct identity in the Punjabi music industry with hit tracks like “Tu Dis Penda”, “Khush Reha Kar”, “Sardari”, “Surname”, “Afreen”, “Landlord”, “Down to Earth”, and “Kangani”.
Beyond music, he had also made his mark in Punjabi cinema, featuring in films such as “Subedar Joginder Singh” (2018) alongside Gippy Grewal; “Jind Jaan” (2019) and “Mindo Taseeldarni” (2019).
Shock, mourning in music industry
News of Jawanda’s passing has sent shockwaves across the Punjabi entertainment world. Fans, fellow artists and public figures have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the artist whose voice and energy left an indelible mark on modern Punjabi music.
According to sources close to the family, Rajvir Jawanda’s wife had previously urged him not to make the trip to Shimla, expressing concern over the weather and road conditions, fears that tragically came true. Funeral arrangements are expected to take place in his native village, with thousands likely to gather to bid farewell to the beloved artist.
