In a major boost to rural connectivity in Himachal Pradesh, the Government of India has approved road projects worth ₹1,240.53 crore for the Mandi parliamentary constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-IV, Batch-I (2025–26).

A total of 142 road projects covering 846.32 kilometres have been sanctioned, which will provide all-weather road connectivity to 209 rural habitations across the constituency.

Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan formally informed Mandi Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut about the approval through an official letter dated January 20, 2026. In the communication, the minister said the new roads would strengthen rural infrastructure and accelerate the socio-economic development of the region.

Following the announcement, Kangana Ranaut shared a video message on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the landmark decision. She said the projects would transform connectivity in the remote and hilly areas of Mandi and bring long-awaited relief to thousands of villagers.

“This is a historic decision for the people of Mandi. These roads will ensure safe and year-round connectivity for our remote villages and open new opportunities for development,” Ranaut said in her video message.

She added that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the central government is giving top priority to the development of hill states and border regions, and the approval of these projects reflects the government’s strong commitment towards Himachal Pradesh.

The Union Minister has also stressed the need for speedy execution and strict quality control to ensure long-term benefits for the public.

The approval of the massive road package is being seen as a major step towards improving infrastructure, boosting tourism, strengthening agriculture supply chains, and enhancing access to education and healthcare in the Mandi region.
