German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Ahmedabad on Monday as part of his India visit, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders met at the historic Sabarmati and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, offering a heartfelt homage to the Father of the Nation.

Following the tribute, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront, an event that has become a symbol of Gujarat’s cultural vibrancy and India’s soft power diplomacy.
