2 labourers abducted by armed miscreants rescued in joint operation by Assam Rifles, Manipur Police

DHARAMSHALA: In a joint operation, teams of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police secured the release of two labourers abducted by armed miscreants from the Assam-Manipur border.

According to information, the labourers were kidnapped by unidentified miscreants from a construction site along the NH-37 on the fringes of the Assam-Manipur border in Tamenglong district of Manipur on the night of December 13/14 (2023).

On the receipt of information, joint teams of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation.
The joint team visited the construction site at Lhangnom as also Muktakhol, Tatbung, Lhangnom and Phaitol villages for investigation. Exhaustive questioning and extensive search were carried out in the dense forests, cultivated fields as well as in villages.

Both the labourers were rescued in the afternoon of December 14. The security teams were assisted in the operation by civil society organisations and elected village chiefs of the region.
