Himachal Pradesh Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain in Some Areas

The Meteorological Center in Shimla has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in certain regions of Himachal Pradesh today. According to forecasts, the weather is expected to remain unstable in some areas on September 28 and 29. However, conditions are predicted to clear up across the state by September 30.

Over the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in various regions, including Jogindernagar (80.0 mm), Palampur (79.8 mm), Baijnath (65.0 mm), Paonta Sahib (51.2 mm), Shimla (34.5 mm), Dehra Gopipur (27.0 mm), Dhaula Kuan (26.5 mm), Gohar (25.0 mm), Dharampur (16.0 mm), and Kasauli (16.0 mm). In Shimla, light sunshine is visible today, though the sky remains partly cloudy.

Roads and Power Disruptions Due to Landslides

As of 10:00 AM on Friday, a total of 48 roads, including one national highway, remain closed due to landslides occurring in various areas. Additionally, 156 power transformers are reported to be affected. Sirmaur district has the highest number of road disruptions.

Rainfall Above Normal by 5% from September 1 to 27

Between September 1 and 27, the state received 5% more rainfall than the normal amount. While 117.4 mm of rainfall is considered average for this period, Himachal Pradesh recorded 122.9 mm. Bilaspur received 32% more rainfall than usual, Hamirpur 5%, Kangra 26%, Kinnaur 41%, Mandi 66%, Shimla 32%, Sirmaur 76%, and Solan 31%. However, Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Una experienced below-normal rainfall.

Minimum Temperatures in Key Areas

In terms of minimum temperatures, Shimla recorded 14.8°C, Sundernagar 19.6°C, Bhuntar 19.2°C, Kalpa 11.2°C, Una 22.4°C, Nahan 21.2°C, Keylong 9.8°C, Palampur 16.2°C, Solan 18.4°C, Manali 14.9°C, Kangra 20.4°C, Mandi 20.5°C, Bilaspur 23.3°C, Chamba 22.5°C, Dalhousie 13.3°C, Bharmour 16.5°C, Kasauli 17.3°C, Paonta Sahib 23.0°C, Dehra Gopipur 23.0°C, and Mashobra recorded a minimum of 14.7°C.
