Himachal weather: Fresh western disturbance likely to bring rain, snow in several parts


Shimla: The weather in Himachal Pradesh is expected to change as a fresh western disturbance is likely to get active and bring light rain and snowfall in several parts of the state.


According to the Meteorological Centre-Shimla, light rain and snowfall are expected in Chamba, Kullu, Kangra, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts on April 3, 8, and 9. However, for the remainder of the week from April 3 to 9, dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the state.


The temperature across the state is expected to fluctuate slightly in the coming days. In the next 24 hours, the minimum temperature in several parts of the state is likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius.


At the same time, the maximum temperature in the higher hill regions is expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. For the lower hills and plains, there is a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by around 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days.


In terms of current temperatures, Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 13.4°C, while places like Sundernagar and Bhuntar reported minimum temperature of 9°C and 7°C, respectively.


The minimum temperature at higher altitudes was as low as -0.7°C in Kukumseri, with places like Kalpa and Manali experiencing temperatures of 3°C and 7.6°C, respectively.


As for the maximum temperatures, Una recorded the highest at 33.8°C, followed by Sundernagar at 31.2°C, Kangra at 30.7°C and Mandi at 30.2°C.


The maximum temperature in Shimla, Manali and Kullu was 22.8°C, 22.9°C and 29.5°C, respectively. The lowest maximum temperature was recorded in Keylong at 11.1°C.


The weather department has advised residents and tourists to stay prepared for the changing weather, especially in the higher regions where snow may accumulate.
