Vijay Sahdev elected district governor for Rotary District 3070


MANDI: Vijay Sahdev has been elected the district governor of the Rotary District 3070 for 2027-28 during the district conference held in Amritsar on Sunday (March 9, 2025).


In a keenly contested election, Sahdev secured 85 votes while his opponents, Pawan Kapoor and Atamjit Singh, received 39 and 10 votes, respectively.

Rotary International District 3070

Rotary District 3070 is a vast and dynamic region covering Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, 80% of Himachal Pradesh and 60% of Punjab. It is divided into nine zones, comprising Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Kapurthala.


With 116 Rotary Clubs and 4,000 members, the district plays a key role in community service, leadership development and humanitarian projects. The current district governor is Dr Parminder Singh Grover. Sahdev will take over for the Rotary Year 2027-28.

Legacy of professional and social excellence

Born on May 3, 1967, in Talwara, Sahdev has continuously expanded his work in both professional and social spheres. An engineer by profession, he has been leading Vijay Sahdev & Associates as an architectural consultant since 1986, earning a strong reputation for fair and transparent business practices.


Sahdev joined the Rotary Club of Jalandhar Central in 1995 and has been an active contributor ever since. During his tenure as club president (2000-01), his leadership earned the club 14 district awards and an RI Citation from the Rotary International president.


His contributions at the district level have been equally significant. He has served in key positions, including five terms as district secretary, district treasurer, two terms each as assistant governor, zonal chairman and a member of the nomination committee and chairman of multiple district committees.

Vision for stronger, more impactful District 3070

As the district governor-elect, Sahdev said he was committed to expanding Rotary’s reach in underrepresented areas, strengthening new, small and weaker clubs through rotary education and foundation programmes, enhancing impactful service projects to improve Rotary’s public image and member retention, introducing innovative ideas for community and humanitarian service to drive greater involvement of Rotarians


The election was conducted as per Rotary’s bylaws, ensuring a fair and democratic process. It was supervised by past district governors Arun Kapoor (Amritsar), Dr US Ghai (Jalandhar) and Dr Dushyant Chaudhary (Jammu).


Expressing gratitude, Sahdev thanked his team, supporters and the president of Rotary Club of Jalandhar Central, Gurmeet Singh Basra, along with Jitin Jain and Amit Dureja for their unwavering support.
