DHARAMSHALA: In an effort to help youngsters navigate career choices amid rapidly changing job markets, The Newz Radar, Himachal Pradesh’s first and only digital English news network, on Saturday (December 20, 2025) partnered with Arni University, Kangra, to organise ‘Udaan: Discover Your Direction’ in Dharamshala.
Held at Minerva Study Circle, the programme focused on career clarity, emerging opportunities and skill-based planning, marking the launch of The Newz Radar’s new social outreach campaign, with Kangra as its first stop.
Students, educators and professionals participated in interactive sessions on education-to-employment pathways, entrepreneurship and evolving market trends.
The Newz Radar Executive Editor Sunil Chadha, Political Editor S Gopal Puri and HR Head Abhinav Sharma said the initiative was aimed at encouraging students to identify their strengths, explore non-traditional career options and take informed decisions at the right stage. “Udaan is about helping youth recognise their potential and understand that success today demands awareness, adaptability and confidence,” they said.
Chief guest stresses confidence, multiple skills
District Tourism Officer Vinay Dhiman, an HAS officer and the chief guest at the event, shared his personal academic and professional journey, urging students to focus on self-confidence, consistency and timely decision-making. He told students that opportunities today were far more diverse than in earlier times, but success required careful planning and perseverance.
Dhiman pointed out that academic excellence alone was not a guarantee of success in an intensely competitive environment. “Developing multiple skills, gaining practical exposure and engaging in activities beyond the classroom are equally important,” he said, adding that theoretical knowledge without real-world application remained incomplete.
Recalling his own journey from teaching and coaching to sustaining himself financially while preparing for competitive exams, he said temporary failures were a part of every career and should not become a reason to give up. “Challenges are inevitable, but patience and persistence decide long-term success,” he said.
Arni University experts guide on academic planning
Dr Raminder Singh, Dean, Arni University, provided detailed guidance on academic planning and course selection, advising students to align their choices with personal interests, skills and future scope. He stressed clarity, discipline and consistency in higher education, while encouraging students to explore multiple academic pathways before finalising decisions.
“Career journeys are rarely linear. With the right guidance and a focused approach, success is achievable even after setbacks,” he said, urging students to learn from failures rather than fear them.
Arni University faculty member Dr Charu Sharma told students that exams were only a part of life, not its defining measure. She encouraged a balanced, stress-free approach to studies and highlighted the wide range of courses and career options available at Arni University, asking students to focus on their strengths and make informed choices.
TNR’s social outreach beyond journalism
Since its launch in 2022, The Newz Radar has combined research-based journalism with community initiatives, including the TNR-Shining Star Awards honouring meritorious students and the Spring Carnival in Dharamshala to promote tourism and local culture.
With Udaan, The Newz Radar has added structured career guidance and youth motivation to its social initiatives. The Newz Radar aims to organise similar programmes in other districts, helping students across Himachal Pradesh discover direction, confidence and purpose in their career journey.
