In a recent judgment, Justice Deepali Gambhir of the Jwali Court sentenced Amar Singh to a harsh two-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 for his involvement in a physical assault stemming from a dispute over the purchase of an old mango orchard. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two months of incarceration.
According to Assistant Public Prosecutor Ravi Kumar, who is overseeing the case on behalf of the government, the incident unfolded on October 30, 2009. Babuddin, a resident of Siddhpurghad, filed a report at the Jwali police station stating that Vishambhar Singh had assaulted him around 3:00 PM. The altercation occurred as Babuddin was returning from the depot with groceries.
Babuddin alleged that Vishambhar Singh harbored animosity over the purchase of the old mango orchard and that this disagreement led to the physical assault. In response to Babuddin’s complaint, the police initiated a case under Section 325 of the IPC against Vishambhar Singh.
During the court proceedings led by Justice Deepali Gambhir, Vishambhar Singh was found guilty of assaulting Babuddin. The court, in its verdict on Wednesday, pronounced the sentence, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and discouraging violence in such matters.
