A solemn tribute was paid on Monday (July 7, 2025) in Palampur to honour the martyrdom day of Captain Vikram Batra, the Kargil War hero who laid down his life in service to the nation. The Palampur Municipal Corporation organised a simple yet heartfelt programme to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the valiant soldier.

The ceremony was attended by Palampur Mayor Gopal Nag, Deputy Mayor Raj Kumar, local councillors, SDM Netra Meti, Tehsildar Sajan Bagga, Additional Commissioner Vikas Sharma and Trade Association president Surendra Sood, along with officers and staff from various departments. Together, they gathered at Captain Vikram Batra’s statue to offer floral tributes and remember his heroism.
As a mark of respect, a police salute was given to Captain Batra, acknowledging his extraordinary courage and sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War. A two-minute silence was observed by all in attendance to honor the memory of the nation’s beloved martyr.
The ceremony served as a reminder of the immense bravery of Captain Vikram Batra, who famously led critical missions during the Kargil conflict and inspired countless Indians with his courage and words “Yeh Dil Maange More”.
