Welcoming the Himachal Pradesh Government’s decision to introduce the CBSE curriculum in 100 government schools, the Nurpur Trade Association submitted a memorandum to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Arun Sharma, addressed to the state government.
In the memorandum, the association praised the initiative but emphasized the need for a balanced decision considering local circumstances in Nurpur. They specifically highlighted PM Shri BTC GMGSSS Nurpur and Government Boys Senior Secondary School Nurpur.
The association demanded that CBSE be implemented from Class VI to XII in PM Shri BTC GMGSSS Nurpur, while Government Boys Senior Secondary School Nurpur should remain under the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board. Their reasoning was that if both schools switched to CBSE, students in Nurpur city would lose the option of studying under the state board.
They argued that maintaining the state board in one school would give students the freedom to choose between CBSE and HP Board. Those preferring CBSE could enroll in PM Shri BTC, while others could continue under the state board. This, they said, would ease curriculum selection and ensure that economically weaker students are not disadvantaged.
The memorandum also pointed out that within a five-kilometer radius of Nurpur city, no other government school exists. If the HP Board option is eliminated, students would be forced to travel 8–10 kilometers to other schools, creating additional hardships for parents and children.
The Nurpur Trade Association urged the government to take due cognizance of the matter and retain Government Boys Senior Secondary School Nurpur under the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board.
