Hamirpur: In a resounding endorsement of ethical journalism and civic engagement, former Union Minister and sitting Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur praised The Newz Radar (TNR) for its unwavering commitment to keeping both achievers and wrongdoers “on the radar.” Speaking at the Shining Star Awards ceremony hosted by TNR at the prestigious NIT Hamirpur campus, Thakur highlighted the vital role of a responsible media house in shaping a transparent, informed, and value-driven society.
Addressing an audience of over 1,200 students, parents, and educators, Thakur commended TNR for setting a new benchmark in local journalism. “A good media house does more than just report news—it shapes public opinion, honours merit, and holds those in power accountable. The Newz Radar is doing just that. It is keeping a vigilant eye on both — those who serve society with integrity, and those who deviate from their duties and moral responsibilities,” he said.

Thakur further lauded the vision and effort of TNR founders Sunil Chadha and S Gopal Puri, both seasoned journalists who established the platform with a clear mission: to bring to light the truth, honour merit, and call out injustice without fear or favour. “This initiative is a powerful message in itself. It proves that journalism, when done right, can uplift society while challenging what is wrong,” he said.
The Shining Star Awards, organized annually by TNR, celebrates academic excellence by honouring students who score above 90% in board examinations. Thakur called this recognition “a commendable effort,” adding that it not only motivates the young achievers but also sends a strong message about the value of education and perseverance.

TNR’s unique dual-focus—exposing malpractice while celebrating success—was hailed as a much-needed model in an era of polarized media narratives. “We need more platforms like TNR that can both question the powerful and applaud the deserving,” Thakur concluded.
The event exemplified the evolving role of media in democratic societies—not merely as a watchdog, but as a partner in progress, truth, and nation-building.
