Surjeet Bharmouri brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has served as the national general secretary of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), overseeing states such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. He has also managed elections in several prominent universities, including Guwahati University, Silchar University, Cotton University, Allahabad University, Banaras Hindu University, Panjab University and Delhi University.

In addition, Bharmouri has held the position of national convener for the Indian Youth Congress where he was in-charge of Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. He has also served as the organisation general secretary for the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress and was a contender for the Congress ticket from the Bharmour Assembly constituency in the 2022 elections.

Currently, Bharmouri is the Director of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation under the Himachal Pradesh government. His extensive organisational background includes roles such as campus president of NSUI at Himachal Pradesh University Regional Centre in Dharamshala, elected general secretary of NSUI, national representative of NSUI, national general secretary of NSUI, and various elected positions within the Youth Congress.

Surjeet Bharmouri’s political career has been marked by his dedication to fighting for the rights of youth, students, tribals, Dalits and women through various movements. His vision for Himachal Pradesh is rooted in his belief that the state’s politics should reject the influence of money power. He emphasises the importance of providing opportunities for youth from common family backgrounds and rural areas, ensuring that talent and merit are recognised and respected.
