Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal inaugurated the State-Level Art and Cultural Festival today at the historic Chaugan ground in Chamba. The event is being organized under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha and has drawn participation from approximately 400 students across all districts of Himachal Pradesh.

The festival features two segments: the Art Festival, where students from Classes 9 to 12 will compete in 12 different categories, and the Cultural Festival (Rangotsav), which includes six competitions for students from Classes 3 to 8.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner Repaswal extended best wishes to all participants and emphasized the importance of engaging in multidimensional activities alongside academics. He encouraged students to give their best during the festival and urged teachers and parents to support children in exploring their interests through such platforms.

He highlighted that participation in events like these helps students overcome stage fear and develop public speaking and performance skills, which are essential for building confidence—something that cannot be achieved solely through classroom learning.

Repaswal also underscored the uniqueness of Himachal Pradesh’s folk art and culture, stressing the need for active student involvement in preserving and promoting traditional heritage.

Earlier, Deputy Director of School Education (Quality) and District Project Officer for Samagra Shiksha, Bhag Singh, delivered the welcome address. State Coordinator Rekha Guleria shared key insights about the festival’s objectives and structure.

The event was attended by Deputy Director of School Education Vikas Mahajan, Balveer Singh, District Coordinator Dr. Rashi Jandarotia, OSD Education Umakant Anand, and education officers and students from across the state.
