Shrey Awasthi, Co-Convenor of the Social Media Department, Bharatiya Janata Party, Himachal Pradesh, has strongly condemned the alleged unruly conduct by certain members of the Indian Youth Congress during the AI Impact Summit 2026. He termed the incident deeply unfortunate and said such actions tarnish India’s global image on an international platform.
Awasthi stated that events of this nature not only reflect poorly on those involved but also risk damaging India’s diplomatic standing and the positive identity of its youth. “International forums demand dignity, democratic decorum, and a culture of constructive dialogue. Any form of inappropriate behavior on such platforms is unacceptable,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible expression in a democracy, Awasthi added, “Dissent and disagreement are fundamental rights in a democracy, but their expression must remain civil, respectful, and responsible. Indecent conduct at global platforms undermines the country’s reputation and cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
Awasthi further mentioned that he personally attended the Global Summit and witnessed firsthand the respect accorded to India’s democratic values by international delegates. He urged young citizens to voice their opinions through dialogue, facts, and positive engagement, particularly on social media and other public platforms.
Calling for maturity and accountability, Awasthi appealed to the youth to uphold India’s dignity and contribute constructively to national and international discourse.
