Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has released its schedule for the upcoming winter vacation, set to take place from January 13 to February 23.
During this period, a vacation bench will handle urgent cases, as specified in a notification issued by Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia.
The notification outlines that hearings will primarily occur on Fridays, with an exception on January 16 (Thursday) when the vacation bench will convene. Judges assigned to the vacation bench include Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia and other esteemed justices.
Justice Bipin Chandra Negi will oversee cases from January 13 to 19 and again from January 20 to 26. Justice Rakesh Kainthla will handle matters from January 27 to February 20, as well as between February 3 and 6. Justice Ranjan Sharma is scheduled to hear cases during the fifth week of vacation, from February 10 to 16.
The schedule also specifies individual hearing dates:
Justice Bipin Chandra Negi: January 16 and 24
Justice Rakesh Kainthla: January 31
Justice Ranjan Sharma: February 14 and 21
Chief Justice GS Sandhawalia: February 7
For cases requiring immediate attention, they will be presented to the vacation judge in chambers. Only essential cases will be entertained during this break, ensuring uninterrupted access to justice in critical matters.
