Shimla: In its first meeting of 2025, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the Secretariat in Shimla, rolled out significant decisions to improve governance, streamline recruitment processes, and enhance public services. The Cabinet’s resolutions are expected to address administrative gaps and bolster development across the state.
To strengthen recruitment transparency, the Cabinet approved the creation and filling of 10 posts of Junior Office Assistant (IT) for the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Shimla.
Rajya Chayan Aayog-Hamirpur to conduct tests for Group-C posts
Additionally, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, was entrusted with conducting computer-based tests for Group-C posts recruitment through the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog in Hamirpur. This move is expected to ensure efficiency and fairness in the hiring process.
Administrative upgrades formed a significant part of the Cabinet’s agenda. The Sub-Tehsil Panchrukhi in Kangra district was upgraded to a Tehsil, and three new Sub-Tehsils were approved at Dhamwari in Shimla district, Saho in Chamba district and Chachiyan in Kangra district, along with the creation and filling of necessary posts.
New Block Primary Education Office at Rohnat
Further, the Cabinet decided to establish a new Block Primary Education Office at Rohnat by bifurcating the existing Block Primary Education Office in Shilai, Sirmaur district. In another move aimed at administrative convenience, three panchayats — Matyal, Kudal and Dhadol — were transferred from Development Block Lambagaon to Development Block Baijnath in Kangra district.
Nod to Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority Land Pooling Policy
The Cabinet also approved the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority Land Pooling Policy-2025, which aims to ensure planned development in the state’s industrial regions. A Himachal Pradesh State Water Informatics Centre will also be established to manage and disseminate comprehensive water-related data, facilitating better resource management.
On the cultural front, the Rathal Jatar Mela, Bhaular, in Shimla district was declared a district-level fair, reflecting the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting local traditions.
These decisions highlight the state government’s proactive approach to addressing administrative challenges, fostering transparency in recruitment, and promoting sustainable development while maintaining a focus on cultural preservation.
