A girl from Shimla has accused a man of raping her in Punjab town Zirakpur in Mohali. The Shimla police registered a zero FIR at the Boileauganj police station on Thursday, which has since been transferred to the Zirakpur police in Punjab for further investigation.

According to information provided by the Shimla police, the victim had become acquainted with the accused, a resident of Delhi, through social media some time ago. What began as a casual online interaction soon developed into a friendship and the two eventually planned to marry.

The woman alleged that the accused lured her to Zirakpur, a locality in Mohali, under the pretense of discussing their marriage. Upon her arrival, he took her to a rented room in Zirakpur where he allegedly raped her. When the woman later insisted on formalising their relationship through marriage, the accused reportedly refused.

Following this incident, the victim filed a complaint with the Shimla police. Acting on her complaint, the police registered a case under a zero FIR on Thursday and subsequently transferred it to the Zirakpur police in Punjab for appropriate action.

Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh confirmed on Friday that after registering the case, it was handed over to the Zirakpur police, who will now conduct further investigation and take necessary action in the matter.
