Shimla: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi inspected the Ridge ground in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla on Friday to review preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for meticulous arrangements for the event, focusing on stage setup, spectator galleries and the decoration of the Ridge ground. He stated, “We are taking stock of preparations to ensure that this year’s Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur.”
Republic Day parade and cultural highlights
The Republic Day parade will feature 27 contingents, including J&K Rifles, ITBP, SSB and Army Pipe Band from the armed forces. Women and men contingents, traffic police, Police Band and the K9 squad will comprise the police units.
From the civic groups will be units of Home Guards, Fire Services, Postal Service, Home Guard Band and ex-servicemen.
Then there will be youth participation from the NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides while also disaster management teams.
A vibrant cultural programme will also be part of the celebrations, showcasing the rich heritage of the state. Additionally, various government departments will present tableaux depicting their contributions and achievements.
The inspection was attended by AC to DC Gopal Chand, Additional Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh and other dignitaries, who assured their commitment to making the event a success.
