MANDI: Bollywood actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut has come under fire from Sanjeev Guleria, Chairman of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Mandi, for allegedly using abusive and derogatory language against Congress leaders during her public addresses.
During a press conference held in Mandi on Tuesday (April 8, 2025), Sanjeev Guleria accused Kangana Ranaut of crossing all limits of political decency.
“Kangana Ranaut is repeatedly using foul language against Congress leaders in her rallies. As a Member of Parliament, she must speak with responsibility. Public platforms are not meant for personal vendettas and street-level rhetoric,” he said.
Says she vanished during Mandi crisis
Sanjeev Guleria did not hold back in questioning Kangana Ranaut’s visibility and intent. “When Mandi was reeling under a natural disaster, where was she? She made big promises during the election campaign but has failed to deliver on even one. If she truly cared about her constituency, she would have brought central aid to Himachal during the crisis,” he said.
According to Sanjeev Guleria, Kangana only returned to the region after Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh publicly raised questions about her prolonged absence.
“Now, instead of talking about development and public welfare, she is busy ridiculing opposition leaders. This is not just inappropriate, but unacceptable,” he said.
Congress warns of public protest
The Congress leader issued a warning: “If Kangana doesn’t stop disrespecting public figures and the people of Himachal, the Congress will organise protests against her across the state. She has been calling our leaders names like ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Chhota Pappu’, and ‘Bada Pappu’. This kind of mockery might work in films, but it has no place in Parliament or among the people.”
Sanjeev Guleria clarified that the Congress had no interest in her personal life or lifestyle. “What she eats or what she does, it’s none of our business. But her language and conduct as a lawmaker must be within limits,” he said.
Kangana Ranaut is currently on a five-day tour of the Mandi parliamentary constituency, holding public meetings in various assembly segments.
