SHIMLA:
In a striking claim targeting the credibility of the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections on the eve of the November 6 (2025) first phase of Bihar Assembly poll, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that a Brazilian model was among several fake voters who cast multiple ballots in the state.
Rahul said the woman’s identity was traced through a scan of an image linked to the electoral rolls, which redirected to the model’s verified online profile.
According to Rahul, the foreign model’s name and photo appeared on the Haryana voter list and she allegedly voted 22 times in a single polling booth in Rai. “This is not an error. This is a planned operation,” Gandhi said, suggesting that the inclusion of such names points to deliberate manipulation of the electoral process.
Duplicate voters ‘helped BJP win’: Rahul
The Congress leader claimed that the BJP’s victory in Haryana was fuelled by a network of fake and duplicate voters. “The BJP won with the help of around 25 lakh fake voters. One in every eight voters was bogus,” he alleged, presenting what he described as photographic and documentary evidence of fraudulent entries.
Rahul further alleged that some voters were registered hundreds of times under different identities, citing the case of one woman whose name appeared 223 times across the state. He also claimed that BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh were found voting in Haryana constituencies.
‘This was not an election, but a theft’
Accusing the Election Commission of complicity, Rahul alleged the institution turned a blind eye to the duplicate entries because they benefited the ruling party. “There was no election in Haryana, only theft. Every piece of evidence we have comes from official EC records,” he said.
Calling the manipulation “an industrialised system” designed to distort democracy, Rahul warned that similar tactics could be used in upcoming state elections. “What happened in Haryana will happen in Bihar next. This is how democracy is being strangled,” he said.
