Renowned children’s writer and educationist Pawan Chauhan has achieved another milestone, as two of his acclaimed stories have been included in the supplementary reading curriculum of CBSE and ICSE affiliated private schools across India.
From the academic session 2025–26, students of Class 2 and Class 5 will study Chauhan’s stories under the nationally circulated textbook series ‘Anandi Kahani Sanchay’, published by Volt. The initiative has been developed in accordance with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, which emphasise holistic and value-based learning.
The ‘Anandi’ series is designed not only to strengthen language skills but also to nurture key values such as ethical awareness, cultural rootedness, patriotism, gender sensitivity, and environmental responsibility among young learners.
Chauhan’s story ‘Bye Ants!’, included for Class 2, focuses on cultivating positive habits, while his Class 5 story ‘Please Stop!’ addresses themes related to healthy food practices and well-being. The compilation and editorial work for the series has been undertaken by noted linguist and children’s literature scholar Gurpreet Sharma.
Pawan Chauhan’s works have previously been featured in the curricula of various government and private educational institutions, including university-level courses in Kerala and Maharashtra. A consistent contributor to Hindi literature, he has been actively engaged in poetry, storytelling, feature writing, and children’s creative literature.
A Hindi lecturer by profession, Chauhan has published eleven books on diverse themes. His contribution to children’s literature has also received academic recognition, with a research study conducted at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, on the critical evaluation of his children’s stories.
The inclusion of his work in mainstream school curricula reflects his growing impact on contemporary children’s literature and value-oriented education in India.
