Bharmour: An orange weather alert has been issued for Bharmour subdivision in Chamba district, putting local residents and authorities on high alert as the region braces for possible heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bharmour, Vikas Sharma, confirmed that the Meteorological Department, in coordination with the district administration, has issued an orange alert specifically for the Bharmour area. The alert indicates the likelihood of significant snowfall, low temperatures, and potentially hazardous conditions in the coming days.
In view of the warning, the administration has appealed to all residents to exercise utmost caution. SDM Vikas Sharma urged villagers not to venture towards high-altitude peaks, which are vulnerable to heavy snowfall and avalanches during this period. He also advised people to stay away from rivers, streams, and nullahs, as sudden water flow, snowmelt, or landslides could pose serious risks to life and property.
“The weather conditions may deteriorate rapidly. Keeping safety in mind, people should avoid unnecessary travel, especially towards snow-covered peaks and water bodies. Cooperation from the public is crucial to prevent any loss of life, property, or economic damage,” SDM Sharma said.
The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed relevant departments to remain prepared for any emergency. Local authorities have also been asked to keep essential services on standby and ensure quick response in case of road blockages, power disruptions, or medical emergencies caused by harsh weather.
Residents have been advised to follow official advisories, stay updated through reliable information sources, and report any emergency situations to the local administration immediately. Tourists visiting the region have also been cautioned to reconsider travel plans during the alert period and strictly adhere to safety guidelines.
The district administration has reiterated that public cooperation is key during such weather conditions. By avoiding risky areas and following instructions, residents can help ensure their own safety as well as that of others.
As Bharmour prepares for challenging weather ahead, authorities remain committed to safeguarding lives and minimizing damage through timely alerts, preparedness, and community support.
