Nurpur Police District has successfully recovered ₹17.50 lakh in a cyber fraud case involving a total amount of ₹18.73 lakh. The case was registered at Police Station Jawali based on a complaint filed by Sham Lal, son of Shri Ratna Chand, resident of Samkehar, Post Office Jhonka Ratiyal, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

According to the complaint, unidentified cyber fraudsters hacked the complainant’s mobile phone and fraudulently withdrew ₹18,73,000 through the YONO banking app. Acting on the complaint, FIR No. 192/25 dated 24.12.2025 was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Cyber Cell of District Police Nurpur took swift and professional action in the case. Through detailed investigation, technical analysis, and coordination via the 1930 Cyber Helpline, the police were able to recover ₹17.50 lakh of the defrauded amount and return it to the complainant within five days.
Further legal proceedings in the case are underway as per law.

District Police Nurpur has appealed to the general public to remain cautious and not fall prey to cyber criminals. Citizens are advised not to share personal or banking information with unknown persons.
